フランス・ロワール地方、Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil AOC （サン・ニコラ・ド・ブルグイユ）の造り手 Frédéric Mabileau （フレデリック・マヒロー）。樹齢の高いブドウ樹とオーガニック農法、そして機械に頼らない丁寧な収穫を心がける造り手で、赤白様々なタイプのワインを生産している。Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil AOC では、1%のロゼを除き、ほぼ99%赤ワインが生産されている。主な品種は Cabernet Franc。果実味に富んだ赤ワインとなる。

今まで飲んだことのあるカベルネ・フランとは一線を画す凝縮された果実味。香りは、フランスらしいスパイスや花のような印象だが、口に含んだ瞬間カリフォルニアワインかと思うほどの果実味が襲ってくる。ロワールの赤というと、薄めか日本の赤ワインのような軽くて独特の香りのものしか飲んだことがなかったので、この濃いカベルネ・フランは想定外。色からしてこれまでのロワールの赤とは全く違う。面白い。今まで飲んだロワールの赤の中ではベスト。

Deep and intense colour, we can taste a discreet ageing with black and red fruits on the pallet followed by smoky notes. This cuvee became famous thanks to its sweet structure and the delicacy of its coated tannins. It finishes with heady fragrances of spice and noble wood.

2007 Schneider "Le Breton" Cabernet Franc

ニューヨーク州ロングアイランドにあるワイナリー Schneider Vineyards （シュナイダー・ヴィンヤーズ）。ロングアイランドの小さなワイナリーのほとんどがそうであるように、Schneider Vineyards も最初はネゴシアン（ブドウをブドウ製造者から購入し、自分のところでワインを造る）として1994年にスタートしたが、ファーストリリースがワイン通の間で好評となり、2000年に自社畑を購入したが、2007年に再び畑を売却してしまったそう。2005 Cabernet Franc はたった15樽のみ生産。

ニューヨークのワインショップ Astor Wines & Spirits で薦めてもらったニューヨークワイン。ニューヨークはアメリカではカリフォルニアに継ぐワインカントリーで、赤は Cabernet Franc、白は寒冷地だけに Riesling や Gewurztraminer など甘口ワインが有名。

軽やか系のカベルネ・フラン。ピノくらいのミディアム・ボディ。悪くない。2日目は複雑さが抜けて安っぽく感じ、変なえぐみが出たが、それでもまぁ悪くない。
