2006 20 Bees Cabernet Franc Icewine VQA

カナダ・ナイアガラ地方のオンタリオ州（Ontario）に位置する 20 Bees Winery。19人のブドウ栽培者と1人のワインメーカーが設立したため、このようなネーミングとなった。

今回飲んだのは珍しい Cabernet Franc のアイスワイン。しっかりとした黒ブドウの味（タンニン？）が強く残っており、今まで飲んだことのない味のアイスワイン。甘さの中にもミネラルが感じられ、繊細で奥行きがありとても美味しい。白のアイスワインの情報はあるが、このカベルネ・フランのアイスワインに関してはサイトにも情報が無いため、少量生産の貴重品と思われる。

※Icewine （アイスワイン）とは
自然の状態で凍った完熟ブドウから生産されるワイン。水分は凍るが糖やその他の個体成分は凍らないため、濃縮された非常に甘いワインとなる。凍った葡萄からは通常の葡萄の10分の1程度の果汁しか搾ることができないため、古くは非常に貴重で高価な貴族の飲み物だった。主な生産地はドイツ、カナダ、オーストリア。

2007 Henry of Pelham Pinot Noir

カナダのオンタリオ州に位置する Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery （ヘンリー・オブ・ペルハム・ファミリー・エステート・ワイナリー）。1988年創業以来、Speck Family によって運営されている。ヘンリー・オブ・ペルハムは、100%オンタリオ州で造られたブドウによる優れたワインである認証規格 Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) の創設メンバーでもあり（フランスの AOC、イタリアの DOC、ドイツの QmP に相当）、自身もナイアガラに面する Short Hills Bench のテロワールにこだわったワインを造り続けている。

抜栓直後は酸味が強く、味も薄っぺらい印象。フランスでもカリフォルニアでもなく。時間が経つと徐々に酸味がスムースになり、味もまとまりが出てくる。カリフォルニアよりオレゴンのピノに似た感じ。悪くない。

Description:
The unique characteristics of each vineyard site are transported directly to the palate of the wine taster with Pinot Noir better than perhaps with any other grape. It is therefore a kind of natural GPS that gives this variety its telltale qualities, unique and telling with every vineyard site. 2004 Peller Estates Private Reserve Icewine VQA

Peller Estates はカナダで最も老舗のワイナリーのひとつで、ナイアガラ地方のオンタリオ州（Ontario）に位置する。London International Wine & Spirit Competition にて Best Canadian Winery of the Year（2006）や Best Icewine Trophy（2007）にも選ばれている。

今回飲んだのは Vidal Blanc （ヴィダル・ブラン）種のアイスワイン。甘い黄金色の典型的なアイスワイン。ハニーの味がメイン、トロピカルフルーツ味もしっかり。
