2009 Badiali Lacrima di Morro d'Alba

イタリアで最も小さな250エーカーのアペレーション、マルケ州土着の赤ワイン用ブドウ品種および DOC の Lacrima di Morro d'Alba （ラクリマ・ディ・モッロ・ダルバ）。スミレ、ラズベリー、ブルーベリー系の、リッチでドラマチックな香りが特徴的。Badiali 家の Vittorio & Mirlo 兄弟は、この Lacrima 種に特化してワイン造りを行っている。

K&L スタッフのコメントにもあるようにバラのようなお花畑系の芳醇な香りが印象的。目を瞑るとまるでベルサイユの薔薇の世界のよう（よめ）。パワフルかつ豊かなのでやや疲れてしまうけど、カリフォルニア・ワインにおけるフルーティさとは違う独特の味わいが楽しいワイン。前回の Lacrima di Morro d'Alba よりはずっとよい印象。

The Badiali brothers, Vittorio and Mirko, specialize in Lacrima and nothing else, in the tradition of their late father Quinto. Thiers is a very limited production wine harvested by hand. In case you were not familiar with the varietal, the rare red Lacrima di Morro d'Alba produces a purple tear at the moment of perfect ripeness. This fresh, racy varietal, grows in the smallest appellation in Italy (250 acres). This one is ruby flecked with violet in the glass, rose petals and spice on the nose and a long finish with enough acidity to pair with red or meat sauce pastas, marinated fish, roast pork and chicken. Excellent before or after meals with Pecorino cheese. Amazingly this unusual grape pairs beautifully with "bitter" foods such as artichokes and asparagus.

イタリア、アドリア海に面した Marche （マルケ）州 Conero （コーネロ）の造り手、Lanari （ラナーリ）。K&L が直輸入している。Rosso Conero はマルケ州のDOCであり、Montepulciano 種がメインで Sangiovese が少しブレンドされることが多い。同社のフラッグシップワインでもある。

90% Montepulciano、10% Sangiovese のブレンド。トスカーナなどで感じられるイタリアの「王道らしさ」ではなく、独特な土着系のワインの味わい。タンニンは強めで、イタリア土着ワインらしい土臭さも健在。それ以上にこれといった特徴は無く、可もなく不可もなく、特に印象に残らない一本。よめはいまいち。

2006 Selvagrossa Trimpilin

K&L Club Italiano 2009 6月のワイン。
イタリア Marche （マルケ州）にあるワイナリー Selvagrossa Winery （セルヴァグロッサ・ワイナリー）。Alessandro & Alberto Taddei （アレッサンドロ＆アルベルト・タッディ）兄弟によって2001年に設立。弟のアルベルト・タッディ氏は、世界的にもトップクラスのワインコレクションをもつミシュラン3つ星レストラン Florence at Enoteca Pinchiorri （エノテカ・ピンキオーリ・フィレンツェ）で8年間ソムリエを勤めた人物。ソムリエとして従事しながらフィレンツェ大学の醸造科でも醸造学を習得。兄のアレッサンドロ・タッディ氏も料理学校を卒業し、レストランでシェフとして経験を積み、料理からワイン造りへの道へと進んだ。この兄弟2人にとって、ワインは「食」と共にあり、食に寄り添う上品さと繊細さを持つワイン造りを目指している。

Sangiovese、Cabernet Franc、Merlot 種による非常に少量生産な3種類のワイン「Trimpilin （トリンピリン）」「Poveriano （ポヴェリアーノ）」「Muschén （ムスケン）」を生産。K&Lワインクラブからそのうちの2本が登場。いずれもチャーミングなラベル。今回の Trimpilin の名前の由来は、イタリア造語で「いたずらっ子、やんちゃ坊主」の意味。弟アルベルトがエノテカ・ピンキオーリで働き始めた頃、レストランのオーナーであるピンキオーリ氏がアルベルトをそう呼んでいたことからこの名前がついた。（もう1本の Muschén はこちら。）

ベリーやカラント系の鮮やかかつ複雑な香りと重厚な味わい。イタリアらしい土っぽさはあるけど、どちらかというといいボルドーのような複雑さを感じる。100% Sangiovese。

（2010.09.14　update）
前回とても美味しかったので再飲。濃いルビー色。熟したプラムやプルーンのような香りを持ち、サンジョベーゼの土臭さや渋みを残しつつ、深みと複雑さを兼ね備えたワイン。しかも価格が下がったのでコストパフォーマンスは最高。前回同様、お気に入りの1本。

The 2006 Selvagrossa Trimpilin is 100% sangiovese and is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks where it remains until after the malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged in barrique for 16 months. Selvagrossa’s first production for the Trimpilin was in 2002 and in this 2006 vintage, 250 cases were produced. The wine is really beginning to blossom now; the sangiovese’s tight core of cherrylaced flavors is gradually uncoiling to show this wine’s strident purity. In the mouth the wine is spicy, full of complex fruit and hints of vanilla while it begins to broaden across the palate. The finish is vibrant and emphasizes the fruit spice as it lingers deliciously on the palate. To pair it classically, a wide tagliatelle with a veal sauce would be marvelous. Or Vincisgrassi, a much celebrated local lasagne, topped off with white truffles when they are in season.

今回の「Muschén （ムスケン）」の名前の由来は、マルケ州の方言で「ハエ」。兄アレッサンドロの祖父がちょろちょろ動き回る彼の姿をとらえたユーモアたっぷりのニックネーム。ブルーベリーの鮮やかなフルーティさはサンジョベーゼのもの。バランスがよく軽く飲めるワイン。なんと樽未使用。発酵も熟成もステンレスタンクで行われている。60% Sangiovese、30% Merlot、10% Cabernet Franc。

The 2007 Selvagrossa Muschén is a forward, fresh and vibrant wine that is made from 60% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It is fermented and aged in stainless steel and sees no oak. The wine shows Sangiovese's vibrant, acidic backbone, which gives the wine its verve and direction along with some elegant cherry tones. The Merlot adds a bit of mid-palate richness and some warm texture to the Sangiovese's brightness while thickening it toward the finish. The spicy, complex Cabernet Franc is what brings everything together. This 2007 vintage is sensational - beautifully ripe fruit grown in stellar conditions. The 2007 wines show it - they drink with a particular ease, elegance and balance. "Muschén" is a name that Alberto's grandfather gave to him. In local Pesaro dialect it means a little fly, akin to an annoying gnat, just like owner Alberto Taddei was as a young boy! Only 600 cases of 2007 Muschén were produced.

Lacrima di Morro d'Alba （ラクリマ・ディ・モッロ・ダルバ）という長いイタリア語。これは、イタリアのマルケ州土着の赤ワイン用ブドウ品種および DOC。絶滅しそうだったこの品種を今回のワインメーカーである Mario Lucchetti 氏を始めとする何人かが救った。スミレ、ラズベリー、ブルーベリー系の、リッチでドラマチックな香りが特徴的。

驚くほどフルーティな香り。シラーとジンファンデルを足してもまだ足りないくらい。ところが口に含むと・・・なんというか、美味しくない。香りとは裏腹な苦味。時間をおいてもあまり改善せず。2006 なのにジャリジャリするほどのすごいオリ。ワインに寛容なおっとが珍しく嫌いなワイン。よめは個性を尊重して頑張って星3つ。（なぜかワインメーカーのサイトに載っているラベルとは異なっている。輸入用なのかもしれない。）

Lacrima di Morro d'Alba is a name that just rolls off of your tongue and I'm sure most of you have never heard of it before! This is an indigenous grape variety from the Marche, that's the Adriatic side of Italy, which is just bursting with violets, raspberry and blueberry like fruit! The first time you taste this you'll be amazed by the richness and dramatic aromatics and you'll wonder like I did why hadn't I heard of this grape before? Mario Lucchetti is one of the leading figures in the Marche when it comes to Lacrima di Morro d'Alba; he and a small group of other producers have rescued this grape from extinction. Mario started planting Lacrima in the early 1980's; it was made a DOC in 1985, and now has 34 acres of vineyards. His belief in this variety has taken him to all parts of the world showing this exotic varietal to wine fans across the world. Italy has over 2000 grape varieties so getting yours noticed amongst all of the Chianti, Barolo and Amarone is not an easy task. However Mario believes once you taste this varietal for the first time you'll just love its bold, dramatic flavors, the luscious mouth feel and wonderful drinkability. I love the forwardness of this wine, it is so vivacious, friendly and succulent it sort of reminds me of a zinfandel with a little more structure and verve. This wine will go perfectly with grilled sausage or chicken and your favorite pasta as well.
