2010 Zafrika Sauvignon Blanc

南アフリカのワイン Zafrika （ザフリカ）。Zebra （シマウマ）+ Africa （アフリカ）？主に輸出専門の VIN-X-PORT という南アフリカの会社が持つブランドの1つ。Zafrika ブランドからは、今回飲んだ Sauvignon Blanc の他、南アフリカ特有の品種 Pinotage を始め、Chenin Blanc 、Shiraz 等のワインを生産している。

Trader Joe's で見つけたお手頃ワイン。判りやすい果実味でバランスもよく、深みはないが飲みやすい。値段の割にはなかなか美味しい。

2006 Goats do Roam

Goats do Roam
（ゴーツ・ドゥ・ローム）

1999年に南アフリカのワイナリー兼ヤギ牧場の Fairview Wines （フェアヴュー・ワイン）が発表したローヌ・ブレンドの赤ワイン。Goats （ヤギ）＋ do （強調のdo）＋ Roam （うろうろ歩き回る）の意味だが、語呂やブレンド品種からフランス、ローヌ地方 Côtes-du-Rhône （コート・デュ・ローヌ）をもじったパロディ・ワインであることは明らか。名前はパロディだがワインの質は高く、こうしたジョークを好むアメリカで商業的成功を得た。他にも、Côte-Rôtie （コート・ロティ）をもじった Goat-Roti （ヤギのロースト）、Bordeaux をもじった Bored Doe （退屈な雌ヤギ）、God Father をもじった The Goatfather （ザ・ゴートファーザー）などがある。集英社コミック 『ソムリエール』 8巻に登場。

ローヌブレンドの中では、飲みやすくコストパフォーマンスのいいワイン。ただし、これが伝統的なローヌかどうか、ローヌ経験不足のうちには判断し兼ねるのが悲しいところ。（最終的には、飲みやすく美味しいワインであることが大切なのだが。）飲みすぎたのかおっとは悪酔い。Shiraz （シラーズ）、Pinotage （ピノタージュ）、Cinsault （サンソー）、Carignan （カリニャン）、Mourvedre （ムールヴェルドル）、Gamay Noir （ガメイ・ノアール）によるブレンド。

2008 Zarafa Pinotage

南アフリカのワインカンパニー Mountain River Group のブランドのひとつ、Zarafa。Giraffe （キリン）と南アフリカの country code である ZA を組み合わせて名づけられた。

Pinotage （ピノタージュ）は南アフリカならではの赤ワイン品種で、Pinot Noir とフランス Rhone 地方の Cinsaut （Cinsault）（サンソー）との交配種。smoky、earthy、キイチゴのような味が特徴。造り手の技術と製法によって、気軽に飲めるスタイルからロゼ、長期熟成型、甘口ポート、スパークリングワインと、非常に幅広いワインに生り得る。

2回目のピノタージュ。不思議なフルーティな酸味。メルローとピノの中間のよう。後味はジュースみたい。ピノタージュの特徴であるスモーキーさには気を回していなかった。ピノタージュ好きのおっとはコストパフォーマンスはよいと。よめはあまり好みのワインではなく。

南アフリカにあるワイナリー Ataraxia （アタラクシア）。ワインメーカーの Kevin Grant 氏の初ヴィンテージは2004年。南アフリカのテロワールを反映した Sauvignon Blanc、Chardonnay、Pinot Noir、赤ブレンド "Serenity" に情熱を注ぐ。

柑橘系のソーヴィニヨン・ブラン。カリフォルニアのよう。

2006 Fairview Pinotage

おっとが Pinotage を気に入っていて購入。ブラインドで飲んだときにはシラーだと思った（by おっと）。ピノとシラーの中間のような印象で、ラズベリー風。軽すぎないが、飲みやすくて美味しい。（※Pinotage といえばロンドンのVinopolis（ヴィノポリス）で試飲したなと思ったら、なんと同じワインだった！（ヴィンテージ違い。）この時よめはイマイチな印象だったのに。）

2001 Etienne Le Riche South Africa Cabernet Sauvignon

K&L Premium Wine Club 2007 7月のワイン。
南アフリカのワイナリー Etienne le Riche Wines。コンクリートのオープンタンクで最初の醗酵を行うという独特の製法を取る。その後、フレンチオーク樽へ。南アフリカのワインは初めて。可もなく不可もなく。あまり際立った特徴はなかった。

This is 100% Stellenbosch from sub-regions Jonkershoek and Firgrove. Harvested by hand at optimal ripeness from vines yielding 6-8 tons per hectare 50HL/ha. Traditional open tank fermentation for 5 days on the skins followed by gentle pressing. All the press wine is added to the free run for greater complexity. Manual plunging for color extraction and regular pump-overs are applied. After secondary fermentation in tank, the wine is transferred to barrels for maturation in French oak barrels for 18 months. The wine receives a mild filtration only prior to bottling.

The 2001 Etienne Le Riche Cabernet Sauvignon displays good color and weight. On the nose, the wine presents a core of dark cassis fruit supported by an earthy, mushroomy nose. On the palate, the wine has plenty of spicy Cabernet fruit followed by a focused finish. This wine is enjoyable now and will continue to evolve over the next five to ten years.
